Nominated by Jon S. DeArment, EVP of Manufacturing & Engineering at Channellock, inc.
Although Jessica has only been with us for 4 years, her knowledge and expertise and her leadership in her role have been excellent. She stepped into a vacant seat during a challenging period and really took the bull by the horns. She navigated us through a difficult payroll system implementation, managed contract negotiations, handled open enrollments, and managed the transition to a new health insurance carrier as well as a new 401K administrator. Jessica also continues to lead and develop our workforce to improve engagement and recruitment efforts, making Channellock a better place to work for us all. I have no question we have the right person in the right seat.
Jessica participates in several peer groups and mentors other young people entering the HR profession. She’s very active in her daughter’s Soft Ball career and very family-oriented, which is important as a 5-generation family-owned business. She’s also been a valuable resource in helping us manage our G6 family members’ involvement and development in the business.
As mentioned, Jessica has been instrumental in managing several significant transitions and projects since joining the company and while doing so has built a very capable and effective HR team here at Channellock. Her department also includes EH&S and since having her take over that responsibility, we have seen tremendous improvement in the effectiveness of our safety program under her guidance and leadership. Jessica’s dedication has inspired our entire team, and her approach to challenging projects sets a standard for others to follow.
